In my class, Interactive Design for Web 1, I advanced my skills in HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap coding which gave me the knowledge needed to create a multi-page responsive website about the importance of Fashion Sustainability from scratch. This project allowed me to display my understanding of web design techniques, fixation of web delivery issues, and graphic design as a whole through a passion I have for sustainability and sustainable fashion.

In my course for User Interaction Design, our semester-long project was to research, design, prototype, and create a working high-fidelity prototype for an application that could be beneficial to our target audience. Through the research of other popular downloadable applications and experience, my group designed the Sherpa App. This app was created to help users budget more wisely and to maintain all possible finances in one application to make it easier for users to maintain a budget.

Throughout the beginning weeks of my User Experience course, we had to research Downtown Harrisonburg and its local businesses. From this research, we then had to brainstorm potential apps or websites, and a primary design question, that could be beneficial for these businesses to have. My app was created to help JMU’s local downtown coffee shops get more foot traffic from students. Through surveys, research, and testimonies, I was able to develop the User Research and User Experience guides for the potential app called Downtown’s Daily Cup of Joe.

One of my first SMAD (School of Media Arts and Design) courses for User Experience allotted our final project to be a personal portfolio website for our UX projects. This helped me understand HTML and CSS coding in a more advanced setting, webpage color scheme, web hierarchy, and user design purposes.
